Season of Creation 2024
The Season of Creation runs from September 1st to October 4th (the feast of St Francis of Assisi) and we will be marking the Season this year with specially themed Sunday evening services on September 1st and October 6th; with a special prayer at Morning Prayer and Vespers; and with creation-themed Lectio Divina sessions during September.
We also have a guest speaker on Sunday September 8th at 6pm (replacing the Sunday evening service). Lord Deben was the Chair of the UK Independent Committee on Climate Change (which advises the Government on the actions needed to achieve the goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050) from 2012 to 2023. We are delighted that he has agreed to address the Community and guests on the theme of the Season, “To Hope and Act with Creation”, and we very much hope that you will join us for this, and invite friends and family to do so as well.
"I warmly endorse the celebration of the Benedictine way of living the Gospel. Blogs, talks and podcasts will highlight the inspiration that St Benedict brings to people's lives today, while community events and times of prayer will enable active participation in this way of life. St Benedict says that guests are to be received with humanity and humility, two qualities that I hope will characterise the experience of those taking part in the week."
